Just a Bunch of Women Being Awesome
Recently I had a week full of women-centered events that left me a little tired—but glowing from being around so many inspiring people.
#1 IRL
The week started with a treat: meeting up with Caroline in person.
Many of you know her from our tours and office operations. We communicate every day but rarely see each other since we live in different cities.
We met at Sole2Sole, which I highly recommend to those of you in the Portland area.
#2 Rise Up
I also attended a Together Women Rise gathering focused on CAMFED in Zambia (and yes, I had to look up where Zambia is exactly on a map).
I’m always inspired by the work women are doing around the world to create better opportunities for girls.
You can join Together Women Rise. They have chapters all over the USA.
#3 Field Trip
Later in the week I went to InspireHer, a conference with 600+ women business owners and professionals.
It was a full day of classes, conversations, and celebrating women doing amazing work in our community. If you own a business in the PNW, I encourage you to attend in next year.
Even during my busy season, it felt good to step away from the computer and learn from others.
#4 IG Interviews
That same week I was also interviewed by Journeywoman CEO Carolyn Ray on Instagram about women and travel.
I have been a member of Journeywoman for years as a tour operator and really appreciated being invited to talk about what we do at Bold Spirit Travel.
#5 TGIF
I ended the week at a rainy Friday Happy Women Happy Hour hosted by a longtime friend.
A small group gathered to chat about books, travel, family, and life. One woman recommended the novels James and Theo of Golden. I have yet to read either, but I am reading Awake.
I drove home in the spring rain feeling uplifted.
All of these moments happened because women took the initiative to organize something and invite others in.
So if you’ve been thinking about hosting a gathering—do it. That’s how community grows.
And of course, you can always join our community of solo women travelers, too—whether in Portugal later this year or a trip to the Amalfi Coast in Italy.
